As your project list grows, you may want to clean up your active projects view without permanently deleting old projects. Webvizio’s project archiving feature allows you to tuck away completed or inactive projects while preserving their data and history.

This option is available for all paid plans.

Who Can Archive Projects?

Project archiving is available on all paid Webvizio plans. Two user roles have permissions to archive and restore projects:

  • Account Owners
  • Project Managers

How to Archive a Project

You can archive a project from two places:

  1. From the main dashboard:
    • Open the project’s settings
    • Click “Archive Project”
  2. From inside the project:
    • Click the gear (⚙️) icon to open project settings
    • Click “Archive Project”

Archived projects are moved out of your active projects list and into a separate “Archived Projects” view.

Viewing Archived Projects

To view your archived projects:

  1. Go to your main Webvizio dashboard
  2. Click the “Archived Projects” tab

Here you’ll find a list of all projects you’ve archived. You can still view an archived project’s details, data, and history, but you cannot make any changes to it while it’s archived.

How to Restore an Archived Project

If you need to resume work on an archived project or unarchive it for any reason, restoration is simple:

  1. Go to the “Archived Projects” tab on your main dashboard
  2. Locate the project you wish to restore
  3. Click the “Restore” button on the project card

The project will be immediately unarchived and moved back into your active projects list. All project data and user access will be exactly as it was prior to archiving.

Best Practices for Archiving

  • Archive projects that are complete, on hold, or unlikely to see activity for a while
  • Inform stakeholders before archiving a shared project
  • Review archived projects periodically and consider permanently deleting very old ones to declutter your Webvizio account
